HOT MESS: LAMP - venue design

HOT MESS is a series of themed costume parties hosted by Ancient World.

For LAMP, my collaborator Chelsea Zerna and I were inspired by unrequited love, bad romance, a moth drawn to a flame. We created a venue design that was lacy, hyper-coloured, and full of lamps.

We programmed live music, djs and performance to fill the space, and people were encouraged to come dressed as moths, lamps or anything that inspired them from the party theme.

HOT MESS: PILLOW TALK - venue design

Hot Mess is a series of themed costume parties hosted by Ancient World.

For Pillow Talk the inspiration was a 90’s RnB slumber party. For this installation my collaborator, Chelsea Zerna, and I hand-dyed salvaged fabric being thrown away by a curtain manufacturer to dress the walls and created a padded love-heart shaped headboard for a DJ desk facade.

Chelsea programmed pop and RnB DJs for the event and people were encouraged to come dressed for a slumber party <3

HOME IN THE HYPERREAL - installation

Home in the Hyperreal drew together four practitioners from different disciplines: Lily Potger - dance, Thomas Moran - performance art, Constantine Stephanou - sound and myself - visual art.

We collaborated to create a live performance event that explored the intellectual, physical and emotional mass migration to digital worlds, the loss of a ‘consensus reality’ and the possibility of real connection and safe harbour within the hyperreal.

I used paper salvaged from a bin at a commercial print shop, UV lights and UV paint to create the installation.
